See there they are on the dock waiting for us to "board the ship"...LOL
Hahahaha....... well, I'll take the invitation. Thanks...
I have my tiny bikini and my large straw hat laid aside for Monday night. I believe I'll be boarding the Sharkaroo with mixed feelings. I am enthusiastic about the two of them finding each other and finding love.
I am filled with angst that after the finale they will go their separate ways, never to seem quite so compatible again or even see each other.
I hope that isn't the case... who will I blame? Not really Kim or Robert. As Shirley Ballas parroted again and again on AfterBuzz "Dancing with the Stars is a HIGHLY Produced reality show and they can do whatever they want."
p.s. Does anyone ship Derek and Nastia a teeny, tiny bit? No, no, not me. Just asking.
I share your mixed feelings, view. After being a novice shipper with MnM and the rather sobering experience there with the throwing of single crumbs, the sending out mixed messages, intended or not, their desire to want to prolong the talk about them (that is not an assumption - they had said a couple of times they love to keep people talking, but we decided to collectively be selective listeners)..... I feel Kym and Robert have the best chance to make this work. It is not just production either. We wouldn't see them out at these charity functions together or Robert walking Kym's dog or them arriving and departing together. Robert says he hasn't ever spent that much time with another human being. That is certainly optional. Remember Maks talking about him and Erin being able to get away from each other after a long day of rehearsal and not having to see each other until the next day. Sharkaroo on the other hand are planning a holiday together when it would be expected that all they should want is getting away from each other. All signs are good as far as we can tell. I so hope this will turn out a ship that actually gets somewhere. I so need closure on the traumatic experience of 'shipping' after the MnM silliness.
Other than hearing there are riots, I don't know what is going on politically and that someone had died or the circumstances thereof. I will have to go and read up on it in an independent publication. Without knowing anything though...... it must be unsettling and a sign that all is NOT well, when a country is troubled like that. We have had some as well, largely about ethnic migrants and racial tensions. I can see, view, that Val doesn't do himself a favour. Sitting on the fence would be the calculated stance to take with respect to his demographics. Have to say though that I have a soft spot for people to act non-opportunistically without serving self-interest and standing up for what they belief. It shows strength of character. Especially when it is predictably for him to come under fire from one side of his fandom. He has gained in my view, regardless of what the issue is which I don't know yet about. The real idiocy in my mind is to share with all and sundry that you got layed by someone you don't care to have known then or since. That's truly up himself (yes, we say that here) to imply he can get a lay whenever and with whoever he wants. Eeeeeek...... Better not use the term 'emotionally irresponsible' any longer, Val. ...... at least not in describing others.

The whole flap (Val) is so ironic, gabriele. Because when the demonstrating first turned to mayhem and destruction in Baltimore a few days ago, Val was tweeting outrage and disbelief about it.
See his tweets from the 26th...read up from the bottom:
So, I feel a little bad for him...But I'll just say again. If your entire livelihood depends on fans voting, buying tickets, paying money for lessons etc. you need to walk the milquetoast middle of a non-controversial road. And not anger those fans,
Someday he can be political, hyper religious, terribly opinionated about something. Run for office, etc.
But this is not the time. He does himself and his DWTS career a disservice.
My point of view.

Oh yes, view.... he is definitely not led by considerations for his career. DWTS career we should say more precisely. More by his conscience or perhaps just acting on impulse. But as far as I understand, his last message was more along the lines of there should be an open, meaningful dialogue on the issues. You got me all interested. I have to make some time to find out what is at the roots of this all.
We see over and over that the Chmerkovskiy boys just don't come with an inbuilt filter and that makes for some of their appeal. He has his fashion line and his ambitions as a rapper, both not really geared up to our demographics in the sisterhood. Maybe in the long term, this is where he sees his future and the DWTS gig is a stepping stone to other things. We don't know his mindset, but I suspect it isn't just a focus on us oldies.

Except that is the overwhelming demographic of viewers of the show. And voters. I honestly believe if he could go through an entire season w/o romance/hook-up rumors and not using Social Media at all, or only in the most benign way...he'd have that trophy.
I'll quit now. I'm terribly frustrated with him. I follow all of the pros and their partners on twitter, etc. and never see this type of thing with any of them. Do they not have convictions? No social conscience? Of course they do.

Not so sure, view. Our demographics make the bulk of the voters on paper maybe. Then you look at the tumblrs who have all spare accounts, which they share around to anyone needing more. Who knows what other tricks they have to 'power' vote. They definitely have a few extra strategies up their sleeves.
Also who of the usual oldies DWTS demographic would even see his SM activities? Probably not many besides us core fans who follow him. They watch the show on TV and go by what they see. Which gets me to his last package with the unfortunate 'neck' mishap with Rumer. I haven't even watched it yet, as I don't want to hear the sound it made. But we have observed before that he comes off as incredibly ambitious. Remember Maks saying that he was about the last guy to understand what the show is about, namely it isn't a contest in a competitive sport. I think Val still hasn't got that completely or at least forgets this insight from time to time. That's what I suspect to be in the way also.
Don't let him frustrate you, view. He is a guy in his 20s, typically flooded with testosterone and of an ethnic background that we don't completely understand. The show must love him as someone who gets us talking for any reason, good or bad. Let's take him with a grain of salt.

A very early good morning, all. Haven't been around much, just a quick look when I can. My mom is still in the hospital. She made it through the procedure on her esophagus and is healing slowly. Her body has been through so much during her long struggle, but somehow she keeps holding on!! I smile when I think that maybe my dad isn't ready for her to join him.......he's only had five years without her "honey do" list!!
I will be spending most of the weekend with mom and my sisters at the hospital, and probably won't be around to post much. That said......April, thinking about and praying for you constantly. I know you had to deal with a rough patch, but I am confident that your daughter will come through stronger and tougher than ever!! Thank you to all of the sisters for your love and support during this difficult time for my mom, I appreciate it more than you know!!
I will leave you guys with two thoughts about the current conversation that I quickly scanned, lol!! First of all, as a child of the 70's, I am with Tanith and I LOVE Charlie's hair!! I think that the both of them look amazing and sooo happy! Good for them!! Also.....Val is 29 years old and his opinions are not always going to sit well with an older generation. I must say that I miss watching dwts just for the dancing, lol!! In that department, for me anyway, Val doesn't dissappoint!! I am very much looking forward to Monday and ValenRue's rumba and paso!! Much love to you all.......xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
