Oh, those dear mothers.   Would that they never  had to age.

I’ve maybe told you that when my healthy and vibrant mother was 97, I sold out from under myself a house that had been rental property.  We were divesting ourselves of that property and aiming to simplify our lives in preparation for retirement in a few years.  In order to have a capital gains exemption, we made it our primary residence for 2 years.  My husband was on the road, doing his thing as a construction superintendent…but I was no longer traveling and working with him, really because of mother’s advancing age, and the grandchildren etc.

So for two years I painted, stained old hardwood trim, had a 2 car garage built, and so on.  Many improvements to the house and yard.  It was a cute little gem in its price range, iidssm.  I advertised it in the paper as “for sale by owner” and had two offers within the week.

I called my mother – and told her it was scheduled to close Oct 1st and that I might have to spend the winter in her basement apartment.  She said she’d love it.

And the rest, of course, is family history.  God’s perfect timing…never to be underestimated.

We had 5 wonderful months together.  My little grands lighting up her life.  She peeling potatoes, folding washcloths, ironing beautiful hankies while I did the real work. She started failing after her 98th birthday – pneumonia.  And over the next few weeks of rallying, coming home, going downhill again, I cared for her and we all came to grips with the prospect before us.

All this to say – what a privilege to care for her as lovingly and devotedly at the end of her life as she took care of me at the beginning of mine.

You only have to become a mother yourself to realize this truth.

What a lovely memory, view!  God's perfect timing; it's never early and never late.  He knows what is best for us and will place us at the right place and at the right time.

And therefore, I have to pick up 3rd grader to practice her piano lesson and she stays overnight.  We may sneak in a little DWTS viewing (she likes Ryker).

I'll try to catch y'all's comments later.

So sorry about your mil, CEK...they should be able to get that under control, right?  My oldest sister had similar symptoms and heart failure diagnosis.  She's doing well 5 months later.  Best of luck to you and your family on that front.

And all the dear sisters with ailing loved ones.

I need to get supper started but will check in as soon as I can.  I'm excited about tonight's show!

Just a really quick stop to tell you that I am not sure if I will be on except for maybe the show...
My mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital this afternoon with fluid in the lung and congestive heart failure...I called the doctor to make an appointment for her today because we thought the new blood pressure medication was causing her BP to be so low and her exhaustion too...well guess that was not it...

They are going to do several test and and are giving her IV fluid medication and the heart doctor told hubby that they are going to treat it aggressively.  She is in her 70's so they need to do so...

I am not going to the hospital tonight because 5 of her grandchildren(adults) and her two daughters and my hubby are there.  I will let you know more when I find it out.

So I guess our prayer circle is getting much bigger then I wish it was....

Will be back when I can!!!

Awwwwww.......Cek so sorry to hear about your mother in law......I will be praying for her ......holding your hand (((HUGS)))
