Re: "Season 20 JUST GOT REAL!!" Let's watch together.

I do lurk a little.  I promise I'll try to stop in more often.  I will have lots of Sway news soon!  I can identify at least 4 cast members who now know me by name + Eugene + 2 studio managers + 3 of their instructors!  Gradually, working my way up the chain of command, but it's hard work!

My dream-gone-wrong scenario is to be dancing away in the studio before Sway when Maks walks in and sees me.  He doesn't even have to interact.  I'll be drenched in sweat and can't even hug him properly!

"Carpe fucking diem!"  - Maks said it.
Sorry, I had to use this.  I haven't laughed so much in a long time.

oh, tangodancer....LOVED seeing you had posted!

wow, to live vicariously through your experience and opportunities is just so fun.  But who am I kidding! Even vicariously I am OUT OF BREATH.

Please chime in on Monday night, as we always wish we had a little more informed opinion about the pairs and their dances.  And now, it's getting down to the fine points I guess we could say....and the popular vote.

Re: "Season 20 JUST GOT REAL!!" Let's watch together.

Hope things are going well today with the mothers and our "niece"

My friend's mom had her surgery.  Her husband emailed me and said "amazingly it was quite localized" and they feel the surgery was very successful.  He acknowledged the power of prayer in keeping his wife and mil so calm and able to cope.  And I told him a little prayer circle on my end has been thinking of them, too.

Derek's blog....interesting, and about having a chance to bond more with Nastia since his injury - how unfair he thought the package was in it's depiction of her.

It's a day late for TBT, but I thought that you all would enjoy this picture of three of my granddaughters from two years ago.TBT. Remember these three breaking the child labor laws during the government shutdown a year and a half ago?

Those kids are adorable!  The one in purple reminds me of my daughter when she was that age, because that's the expression she always had on her face when I would try to take her picture.  That baby is so precious!

Thanks, Booky.  This was their mom's (my daughter), reponse to moving to the DC area because hubby got a job with the Federal government just months before, and then suddenly was not working because of the shutdown.  The move had been a big risk.; so it was a mixture of fear and anger.  We all agreed that it was a creative and hilarious response.  Tthe two older girls (Scarlett in purple and Ainsley holding baby, Vienna) loved putting into action the scene their mom created for them.  They were out there for awhile selling lemonade.  Several months later, I gave my daughter a copy of the book, Secrets of Happy Families, and noted that Warren Buffet believes that organizing  and operating a lemonade stand (or a lawn mowing or baby sitting business, etc.) and learning how to reinvest and save and pay yourself, is a better way to learn about money than getting an allowance.

KOS, this post reminded me for some reason of our famous family "government shutdown" story....from, it most have been 1996, the year my son graduated from HS!!

He and I went for a campus visit at Utah State University, to which he had applied to the engineering department (didn't go there in the end).  It was probably over spring break as our kids never liked to miss school because one day out of calculus was too hard to catch up with (the teacher was fabulous!).   I don't recall if we drove or flew to Salt Lake (I think we flew in and drove to Ogden).  So Mom decides that since we are "so close" to Promontory point, where the transcontinental railroad lines joined on May 10, 1869 (I think that was the date), we should take a ride out to visit the Golden Spike!!!  After all, we were close to it and might never pass this way again!!!  What more reason did we need??  LOL

Can't tell you how far it was, but I would say it was easily about 2 hours from the nearest city!!!  LOL  So there we were on a dusty road somewhere in the beautiful Utah desert (and it is beautiful out there--but lots of dry lake beds!), just the two of us, driving and driving until we came to the Promontory Point National Monument.  We arrived--at last--to find not a car in the parking area, not a soul around--except for us!!  Doors and gates all PADLOCKED--like anyone was going to go there to break into the place!!!  LOL  LOL  I think there was even yellow caution tape strung all around the place!!!  Not sure my son was that disappointed, but I was!!!  I'm a history buff (so is he) so we knew all about this stupid golden spike and how it got there!!!  LOL  Just had to see it!!!  LOL

Well....so much for the "real" Golden Spike!!  We'd seen the replica in the CA RR Museum in Sac many times--but this was our chance to see the REAL THING---FOILED by the blinkin' federal government shutdown!!!  Quite a few not so lady-like words no doubt came out of my mouth.....before we turned around  and began our journey back to civilization on that dusty road in the middle of nowhere!!!

A time to remember.......LOL  LOL      The kids call it one of Mom's Follies!!!  LOL

Moral of that story:  Never mind the Golden Spike!!  Not worth the drive--open or closed!!!  LOL  LOL

I guess every family has a story.....  Anyone else??

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer.
