HI all,
Thought I would see what is up on the bard tonight.
So the grandson has passed the swim test at the neighborhood pool so he is not required to be accompanied by his parents anymore. Apparently this is a big deal to him. He has gone twice with his friends and now he has told his mother that they (he and the friends) are planning to go on Saturdays (sans parents of course) and order pizza and "hang out". Hs mother reminded him that the whole family would be going to the pool so they would be there. He asked if they could not be with him while he is there. What the heck? I'm going to see him tomorrow and I am going to tell him that I am coming to the pool on Saturday and I'm going to sit with him and his friends. I wouldn't really but I feel compelled to tease him.

Hey, sistas!
Just about supper time here, so while the rice and beans are cookin' (Zatarain's!), thought I'd just say *HI*. Been missing everybody.
MnM quilts are en route to tango. Should be at her house tomorrow some time. I'll be in SD tomorrow enjoying the zoo with the grandkids but when I get home hope to find that she's received the box! The quilts both look quite nice....one very masculine; the other feminine. I included the same hand written letter with each (along with "quilt care" instructions spray glued into a card) that gave a little bit of what a quilt means to those who make them and, hopefully, to those who receive them. They are really kind've a way of connecting the past and present while immortalizing the time in which they were made, thereby providing a tangible legacy for the future. The bonds quilters form in the process of engaging in their craft are just as important as the outcome....so very much like what we share here, but in a different medium.
In today's world we are losing any emphasis on passing things on to future generations--or even creating anything that has intrinsic value. It's all so fast and disposable. If we don't leave anything behind to let others know something about us and our world at this moment in time, we may as well never have been here! Very sad for our descendants.
Ok--supper intervened so this took much longer to compose than I anticipated!!
Happy trails to everyone!! I'll pop in and out tonite while getting myself organized for tomorrow!
Cheers and hugs to everybody!!Hey Jet *waving* .....are you still here????? I was answering some pm's........so exciting to hear about the quilts.....I can't wait to see the finished product.......LOL....and I feel like I've been playing board tag with everyone too
Hey....*waving* back!! Glad I was able to catch you!! Answered your PM too!!
I've been so busy I haven't even had time to lurk!!! LOL Glad to have a breather now...

Just was reading a little blurb on some site about Chris Soules...they stated this:
So, how was that ever going to work ??? Weekends only?
Hey--he's not far from where my dad was born in Savanna, IL --and where he and his family are buried (in the local cemetery)!!! The Field of Dreams is not far from there either!! We made a famous family trip to it in 1994 when we were in Savanna for Dad's interment!!! Daughter was still playing softball in college then!! She pitched on that field...and one of my favorite pictures is of my son who was about 16 and his two little cousins (7 and 9, I think) posing as they came out of the corn field!!I had wondered if she was going to be happy leaving her job and moving to the farm
Very different if you've never lived that or experienced it with family or in your own life.

That is funny, EC!!! Is there a lifeguard at the pool? That is the one thing I would need to know (having been one myself!).
Funny that you will tease him about being there!!!! LOL
When my son was a freshman in HS and in the band, he immediately told me that he didn't want me to go on band trips and stuff with them. I told him I was going to go to help out--not to bother him and he could just ignore me. Didn't even have to let anyone know he knew me (although all his friends knew me!! LOL). So after a couple parades the told me, "It's ok, Mom, if you come on our trips." Guess I passed hte "smell test"!!!! LOL
