While I'm on a roll, I'll give you a  quick tour of another fascinating place in the Southwest.  This one is Chaco Canyon, NM....literally somewhere only accessible by this road....and I remember it well when we went there in 1990, purely on a lark as we passed the sign on the highway to Farmington and I said, "Turn off!!!  We might never get to see this otherwise!!!"  This is 30 miles of what is called a washboard road....one of those things that looks like the old metal washboards our grandmothers used to scrub clothes!!!  Now you only see them in museums---or describe dirt roads in NM!!!  LOL



These ruins date from 850AD to 1150AD when the Anasazi just disappeared from the area. It is unknown what happened to them or if or how any of them survived.  It is surmised that the water dried up (hmmm...that would do it!).  The amazing thing is that they grew corn 75-100 miles away and built granaries in which to store it!  The Anasazi are believed to the the ancestors of all the pueblo Indians.

This is an amazing photo that shows a lot of detail and how accurately the buildings were constructed from stone slabs.


These windows were made like this for a reason.  Note they are on line with each other.


Pottery from various Indian tribes or pueblos is unique to those people or cultures.  These are from Chaco Canyon:


This is the Kiva, which was the center of the city, if you will.  Religious ceremonies were held there and there was significance to every aspect of it.

Thanks Cek  she is much better today......don't know yet how this will affect any future transfusions she may need......I'll ask the doc when she sees him tues
