Hi, everyone! Hope you all have had a wonderful Saturday!
Had a busy one myself...did some shopping and some sewing, made breakfast and dinner for 3 of us as son was in town to have a father/son day out flying model airplanes. Weather wasn't dreadfully hot but put the A/C on this afternoon while the oven was going to keep it bearable!! Time to open the doors and windows again now that the breeze is cooling off.
Thanks for your thoughts for us out here in the severely dry state of California. Daughter and SIL said that they are getting brown/yellow haze from the fires blazing in NoCal---and there have been reports of ash falling in Eureka. I think the closest fire to them is in the mountains near Trinity, which is probably 30+ miles away?? Just guessing because I'm not sure. We rarely make the drive there from Redding across those mountains. Too boring to to up I-5 to Redding when you can cut off a few miles by going across Clear Lake or through the east Bay Area.
Someone posted a photo of the fire in Clear Lake. Because we know that area quite well from years of driving to Eureka, I uploaded some pics to share. It is a beautiful little, quaint although kinda shabby, resort town/area on a narrow 2-lane road (Hwy 20) that cuts from I-5 at Williams (60 mi. n. of Sac) west to Hwy 101 just above Ukiah (about 85 mile drive). We often go that way. Once you hit 101 it is all Redwoods and the road is built along the Eel River.
Here is a another photo of the fire in that area now--although the picture is very small, there is a huge amount of dry brush and foliage along that highway with limited access by road. BAD place for a wild fire even though there is water in the lakes (there are 3 or 4 lakes that all border each other across the valley; I think the largest of the lot is Clear Lake)
Here is a photo of the lake itself. Doesn't do it justice really but still a pretty and peaceful place.
Here is a map that shows where Clear Lake is relative to SF and Sac. Clear Lake is south of Redding a couple hours' drive but west of I-5 maybe 40-50 miles.
This photo shows Eureka on the north coast so you can get an idea of how far north the fires are spanning. Distance from SF to Eureka is about 275 miles. There are many fires all around northern CA which is quite unusual.
Please keep firefighters and residents in those areas in your thoughts and prayers. There is nothing to do but GET OUT. There are now over 9,000 firefighters from inside and outside of the state fighting 23 or 24 fires. One firefighter from South Dakota died yesterday or today just doing his job.

Hope you are having a wonderful time. The lake does look so peaceful...I am thinking about the emergancy workers and hope they are safe and stay safe. Good to hear from you Jet....
