Afternoon, my beautiful sisters!! I apologize for being MIA lately......lots of real life happening!! Feel badly that I missed the birth of CEK's beautiful granddaughter Gianna, and I'm sure many other happenings!! My thoughts are always with you guys......just don't get much chance to say hello!!
Thank you to all that expressed concern! Hubby is doing nicely, almost back to his usual cheery self (that's sarcasm right there, lol)!! Seriously, he is doing fine and should be 100% soon, thankfully. Tristan saw the eye specialist yesterday, and things don't look too serious at this time. He will wear an eye patch two hours per day, and they will check his progress in three weeks. The sight of this tiny boy looking like Captain Jack Sparrow, just melted my heart!! He's a trouper, and doesn't seem all that bothered by it!! We are hoping that the bones in his face will go back into position on their own, without anything more than therapy and possibly a helmet for a while. We won't know that until he sees the neurologist. He is the sweetest boy and we are enjoying him immensely!! Big brother Dylan has been amazing!! He is my daughter's biggest help and I love him so much for it!!
Summer school has been a little rough. The boy that I work with is moving to a different classroom next year. I have been working on a transition plan with the teaching assistant who was scheduled to be his one-on-one in the fall. I found out on Friday, that she spoke with the principal and informed him that she would rather not work with this boy in the fall. He is severely autistic and requires more than she is used to giving. I am really upset by this news. After giving 110% to this boy for two full terms and 4 summer school sessions, I was hoping that he would be placed with someone who will to do the same. It is really sad that so many people only do what is required and are not willing to go the extra mile for these kids!! It makes all the difference in the world, and I am proud of what I have been able to help them accomplish by giving my all. I will have to wait and see what plans will be in place for this boy in September.
I hope that you are all doing well and enjoying the summer!! Personally......I am looking forward to some cooler temperatures!! My menopausal self doesn't fair too well with all of this humidity!! I probably won't get to catching up on all that I have missed......please forgive me!! I am hoping to be able to chat more soon!! The next few weeks will be busy as well, getting my youngest ready for college!! Move-in day is August 20th.........so excited for her!! She had orientation last week and absolutely loved it!! Then it will be an empty nest for hubby and me, first time in forever! Looking forward to it and Mondays with my girls!!
Thanks again for everything......you guys are amazing!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Hi !!!! Just PM'd you and this post answered some of my questions so fill free to ignore my message. LOL Glad things are looking up for you.
UGH...Isn't there something the little boy's mother can do? Can't she ask for a different teacher? It is terrible that "this teacher" has already said that she doesn't want to work with this child. Going the extra mile use to be so important, not in just this example, but in everything. Now, it is just "a get by additude". Sad.
Well, gotta go........have a great day everyone.

Just sneaking in for a couple minutes after a short visit to a local quilt show. It was small and not as good as past years....but there were several well done entries. It's put on by a local quilt guild...so takes alot of folks to make it happen.
Hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing Sunday!

Happy Sunday morning, ladies.
I had thought that this week if I'm the first one on the board, we would move up the state of California from Yosemite, and I would give you some pictures from either Sequoia or Redwoods National Parks.
The fires in northern California set my hair on edge, and I wondered if there ever is or has been a danger that fire would destroy these magnificent giants.
Yes, View, it happens quite frequently. There are few "old growth" Redwoods left both due to natural disasters and logging (although they plant 8-10 trees for every one that is harvested), but no matter how old or young they are, one can only stand in awe of their stature and elegance.
Have you ever seen a redwood seed? It is so tiny--but they are so plentiful; I think it is the smallest conifer seed on the planet--truthfully--I believe I read that when in Founders Grove a while back. The redwood trees actually create their own environment/ecological climate. They give off alot of moisture that creates fog when the temperatures cool. It's the neatest thing to see! They also grow rampantly because the cones contain so many seeds. The cones are also comparatively very small--unlike Ponderosa and other pines that produce huge cones. Because they grow profically the redwoods actually need to be thinned in order for them to grow efficiently and stay healthy. As I mentioned yesterday, lightning fires are one of the ways nature polices itself--to clear out the undergrowth and allow the sunlight to hit the ground and nurture the new trees. Otherwise they are complete overshadowed by the big trees.
I know that sounds weird and in some ways illogical, but it also makes alot of sense.
Thought some of you might be interested in some of the redwood trivia I've learned over the years of traveling to Humboldt County!!! LOL It's also the MJ capital of the country.....big trees provide lots of "cover" for that as well!!!

Here is a link where you can see a fallen redwood they believe is about 1,600 years old!
The other thing I didn't mention is that it is not uncommon to see where redwoods have been struck by lightning, were scarred by fire, but have sprouted new growth from an area of the tree that wasn't damaged. Nature has a way of surviving.

Glad things are improving at home. Sorry not so much at school. It must be so frustrating and sad to think others don't want to spend time with this poor child. Keep the faith--I know you will do the best you can.
What is the issue with Tristan? I guess I missed that. Hope he will be ok.
Hang in there....everything will come out alright. Thanks for keeping us posted!
