Good evening, ladies!
CEK, you sweetie ... thinking about everyone else when it's almost DISNEY time!!! 😊 Yes, we are all moved in. Finally got sod put in yesterday and started putting together the kids' new trampoline - as promised!! They start school Monday (boo!!!) so I'm guessing I'm gonna be a little sad for a few days - my baby will be in full-day kindergarten this year ... waaahhhh!!! I'm starting a new job the week after - my first outside the home in nearly 13 years. I am going to assistant teaching at the preschool where our youngest attended last year. I'm going to be working in the two-year-old room two days a week! His teacher from last year called and asked me to apply ... I was quite flattered and like her a lot so decided to give it a whirl. More babies to cuddle while mine are at school! 😊Oh, Tennessee....baby of the family going off to all-day kindergarten. I remember this too. And yet, you have to be so non-chalant and up-beat, so "worrying about mama...she's sad" isn't a burden put on them at all.
Your idea to work part time is great. And remember, these little empty nest experiences are toughening you up for the Big One. I read somewhere long, long ago that motherhood is simply a series of goodbyes. We help them learn steps toward independence...and then Yikes! they become independent.
I'll bet your Tennessee home is beautiful. So happy that you are finally settled. And maybe you'll have a little more time to visit with us. We're hoping that the coming season of DWTS will offer some fascinating celebrities and interesting couples. I remind myself that I was not going to watch Season 19 at all - only tuned in to see if possibly Meryl was in the audience - and ended up loving the season.
Hi All - very early morning here on the East coast!
View! You made me tear up! Yes ... a series of goodbyes ... sad but so true. Yet it's what we as moms hope for, right? If we've done our jobs well, then hopefully they all will want to (and will be able to) leave the nest someday. Growing pains all around, I guess! Sigh!
We had a great last summer weekend here. My husband's brother flew in for a short couple days from CO. Kids all had a great time with him. Everyone was up late tonight (even our five-year-old!) sitting out on the back deck, counting stars, listening to the crazy-loud cicadas, telling stories, and just being silly. Great way to end break.
Hope everyone is enjoying these last fleeting days of summer (or winter for Gabriele!). I am VERY much looking forward to fall - my favorite season by far. Hope DWTS has a solid cast this year. Fall TV is always a nice distraction. Speaking of "Anthropologie" as Meryl did ... I absolutely love that store!! Had to immediately go online and browse when I read that. Nothing like a little retail therapy! 😉

Before I sign off for now, on a personal note, daughter called yesterday to say that they signed the "adoption placement" papers for the baby!!!! YEA!!! That means they will next be able to set a date for the final adoption!!! Another trip coming up, it would seem!!!! Unfortunately, we can't do it in October when we go up for the Hall of Fame induction of daughter's 1995 national tournament softball team because her MIL has a family wedding the same day (daughter and SIL got a dispensation from the bride's dad--SIL's brother!)!!! We'll figure it out, I'm sure!!! Just so pleased that the final phase is near. It's been just one year (on Aug. 22) since baby was place with them in foster care.
Jet...congratulations ! I remember they were fostering a baby, but had thought I missed some of the news along the way. This is wonderful!
What a lot of babies and baby news in the Ladies Room. I love it.
Oh, YEA!!! A huge congrats to your daughter and all your family!!!! 😃

Good Thursday Morning to all my wonderful "Sisters"
Please forgive me in me being so scarce on the board for the past couple days. I have been busy as can be trying to finish up some things and then getting ready to go to "Disney World"
I also didn't realize how much dust can be in one house.... OMG and does anyone know what you can do with "pet hair" ??? I have enought to knit about 4 sweaters a week it seems like...and the rottie is the biggest shedder of them all!!!!!
Ok it is going to be a HOT and HUMID day again here in VA with thunderstorms this afternoon..."supprise"
Checking the news....I compost the pet hair, CEK. A bit like buying bagged blood and bone in the garden centre.
I think I remember my daddy doing that now...he had a composter for as long as I can remember. Had a beautiful little garden too!!!
Ours is a barrel that can be rotated on a stand. Perfect! I had a cylinder first with lid under which I discovered a fat rat one day, followed by a sphere which was meant to be able to be rotated on a collar, but when full was too heavy. I might get rid of the one that allows rodent access, as where you find rodents, you also find snakes. And they are venemous where we are.
