Good Afternoon Sisters of the Traveling Message Board,
I have tried to keep up with all the news and want you all to know that you are on my heart and mind and in my prayers even though you have not heard much from me.
Currently I am at the Senior Center using one of there computers where I do have access to the letters "j," "m," and "u" so that I can write a clear and coherent message. It has been longer than I had hoped, but hopefully I will have a new computer in a couple of weeks. My adult children think it is hilarious that I am at the Senior Center even though I am 74. And my awkward emails (without using j, m or u) to folks working with me on the Beloved Community Dinners has provided lots of giggles especially to those who are former students who took advanced writing classes from me during their high school days.
KOS
Oh, KOS....so wonderful to hear from you. I kind of love the image of your communications w/o the letters J M or U
How funny.
Your emails could come with a "key" Like a Secret Code....all * read as j...all @ read as U etc.
Thanks for checking in with us. Have a great day.

I'm afraid I wont get back on today....things (various contractors) are busy here.
So here is a best wishes bouquet for you, CEK. Miss you already. I'm glad I will be so pre-occupied in my own right over the next 2 weeks.
And speaking of that, sister...I will try to join the agreed-upon Monday nights at least.

KOS, so nice to see you. Can't wait till you get your computer. We have missed your insights and just "seeing you around".

CEK, I will probably not be on again tonight but I wanted to wish you safe travels and a wonderful adventure. Have fun at................
and we will see you when you have a bit of time to check in.

We may not see too much of CEK today....
I have just spoken to two deck builders re: the price of building the deck. Because of our contruction capabilities within the family, we have gone ahead and ordered everything required, but I don't want hubby or step-brother saddled with the actual labor.
I thought I'd share a couple of flood pictures with you now and then over the next couple of slow weeks (DWTS Perfect 10 tour is ending....season not yet beginning)
Sheraton Hotel and ND State Fairgrounds, Erik Ramstad Middle School (with it's 12' dike visible under the water) the flooded Mall.
On the below picture, if you were to continue off the the right - that is the river channel, and on the other side of it is our neighborhood.
If I recall, this mall's expensive dike did help, but they still had a lot of water and damage...they considered scrapping the whole thing, but in large part due to customers' and employees' input - they repaired.
Looks like many were under right up to the eaves. You have two stories though, view? I guess it must have been a close call between renovating or rebuilding. Did you say you renovated due to the property being in your family for a long time. What are the chances of anything like this ever recurring?

I have added to our story.

Hi Everyone....I am sorry I wasn't on today...got really busy packing, straightening up, finishing some laundry, going to the bank and getting the pets ready to go to the vet to be boarded....
Thank you all for the good wishes. I am excited but tired right now. Got to get to sleep so I can get to the airport by 6:30, so I am off to bed.
I will miss you all bunches, but will check in when I can.
Love you all!!!!!

Good Morning, dear sisters....
CEK left us a late night "love and hugs" message above ^^^^ I am so excited for her and her family about this trip - we have heard of the plans for it a long time, and now the time is here.
Here is a short video of Old Faithful in Yellowstone.
I have a very busy morning and early afternoon ahead of me, but hope to check in this afternoon.
Wish you all great day.

I was getting worried about you all....Glad things are better and calming down a bit...off to college will be soon. Is he going to school near home? Glad she is doing better, she is a very determined young lady and I know if there is anyway possible for her to go she will find it...but she gets that from her mama cause we know you are a strong woman...but then you are in the "sisterhood" LOL
Thing are SLOW right now, just waiting for the new season to start. I am going to see what is new now...
HUGS to you and the family!!!awwww......thanks cek and yes he actually lives with us and commutes to the college for classes.....lol....he is not into living on campus and dorm life....LOL....and I think we have it worked out that she will be doing part days when she can and will be playing "stand tunes" with the band but not doing the marching....."stand tunes" mean she will sit with them in the stands and play then but won't have to do the marching part....this way she can still be part of the band but not over do it
That is so great, April. I'm sure it will mean a great deal to her--however much she is able to do.
I hope that works out for her and know that her fellow band members will be thrilled to have her with them.
