According to Kym Johnson, the “Icon” dances next week is someone who has inspired the celebrity. I guess that means someone famous?? Who the hell knows? All I know is that I’m sick to death of these lame themes. They lead to excessive use of the troupe, props, massive sets…and the dreaded smoke monster. Can’t we just have DANCING??
Then there’s the dance off. Rob Wade has about worn out his welcome here. The three dances to choose from are dances that Nick has already done – I’m sure that’s just a coincidence. Heh. No, he didn’t say what they were, just that he had already done them.
Anyway, Alexa and Andy didn’t know as of Monday night what they were dancing. Mark said the music he wanted didn’t clear so they’re under the gun. Or they were. Surely they know by now.
ETA: So, Broadway World explains immunity and the dance off from the DWTS Press release:
Here is the link to the explaination....
[quote888]For the first time this season, the couple with the highest score from their solo dance will be granted immunity from elimination next week and will also receive 3 additional points.
For the first time ever, each of the six couples that do not receive immunity will then be paired up to compete in a head-to-head dance-off to be voted on by America in real-time on www.ABC.com and the three judges. The couple with the majority of the four potential votes from each dance-off will earn an extra 2 points, increasing their overall score. At the end of the night, one couple will face elimination.
[/quote888]
They also list the style of dances that will be performed:
[quote888]The “Dancing with the Stars” celebrities will pay tribute to influential figures in their lives on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET). The dance styles will include Argentine Tango, Foxtrot, Contemporary, Salsa, Paso Doble and the Viennese Waltz.
[/quote888]
If you check his Blog, Derek says he and Bindi have only performed TWO of the dance off styles, Cha Cha and Jive. Figures.
Nick and Sharna – Contemporary (‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Haley Reinhart)
1-855-234-5610
Andy and Allison – ?? (‘Isn’t She Lovely’ by Stevie Wonder)
1-855-234-5603
Alexa and Mark – ?? (‘Viva La Vida’ by Coldplay)
1-855-234-5602
Bindi and Derek – Foxtrot (‘Grace Kelly’ by MIKA)
1-855-234-5604
Alek and Lindsay – ?? (‘Holding Out For A Hero’ by Ella Mae Bowen)
1-855-234-5601
Tamar and Val – ?? (‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Haley Reinhart)
1-855-234-5612
Carlos and Witney – Salsa (‘Valio La Pena’ by Marc Anthony)
1-855-234-5605
I think there is a mistake on the songs as they have Tamara and Val along with Nick and Sharna dancing to the same song....

Carlos and Whitney meet Marc Anthony....I’ve always been a huge Mark Anthony fan (my fave songs: “You Sang To Me” and “I Need To Know“). It’s going to be cool to see how he might have inspired Carlos PenaVega on Dancing With The Stars Monday night. In case youhaven’t read yet, Witney and Carlos will be doing a Salsa to Mark’s ‘Valio La Pena’.
[quote888]therealcarlospena: Tonight was amazing! Hanging out with the man himself! @marcanthony you are a true gentleman. Thank you for your incredible hospitality. You are with out a doubt one of the greatest performers and all those reasons are why I chose you as my icon for this weeks episode! @dancingabc #dwts #witneycarson
