HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! We are still in the hospital but the docs and nurses are all dressed up in costume and there will be a party for the kids here later today :-) hope you all have a great and safe Halloween too :-)

And Annie and Booky are you guys getting the bad weather they've been showing on the news????

Gotta run ....nurses coming in

(((((Hugs)))))

No, not really. It rained all day, pretty much, yesterday, but not today. However, my son told me that it rained all night last night. Hope your daughter is doing better. I didn't know she has the hives. I would want to claw my skin off from scratching! I hope they can give her something to alleviate that; that precious girl has had to put up with too much!

Making Popcorn Balls this morning... have to get busy.

Wish I could share them with all the kids in the Ladies Room !

I LOVE popcorn balls and wish I could have one of these!! They are gorgeous. My mother used to make them, but not as fancy as these, to hand out to trick or treaters. Can't do that anymore!

Re: Dishin' With The Sisters: Lucky 21

The popcorn balls turned out great.  I haven't been able to find a replacement for my flooded recipe...written on a card in my older sister's hand, from the late 50's.  Called Jolly Time Popcorn Balls from their canister.

I had seen some on line - called Jolly Time's original but they weren't what I remembered.  And the syrup cooked only to 270 degrees.  Which would give you a too chewy "pull out my fillings" to quote my mother,  result.

I was going to adapt one I saw...and then stumbled on to one that seemed just exactly what I remembered.  Cooked to the hard-crack stage (302) and more butter.

Annie, mine are not so cute as the ones pictured...simply in a sandwich bag and tied with orange ribbon.  But what a cute idea with the tootsie roll stem.

And you are right.  I don't hand them out to the kids at the door...unless we know each other well.  They are mostly for my family and disappear fast.  I also make them for Christmas with different food coloring.

Re: Dishin' With The Sisters: Lucky 21

Wish I could stay and chat.  So many sisters' comments I want to respond to.  Well, here's a brief version:

Luv, hubby had a crunch wrap !!

Tango, I hope things work out for you with jury duty...Wouldn't that be the biggest bummer!!!  I looked at your son's rescue dog - and love it.  But am mesmerized by the picture next to it of homemade deliciousness.  Can you share the recipe?

CEK - hope you have a ball trick or treating.   I did have a great time at the school last night.  It was lots of fun.  Ended up in the mini golf room with another woman and her 2nd grade daughter.  Thank goodness for the little one willing to crawl under tables and desks to retrieve the wiffle balls !  They should have had some type of barrier.

April, vmom, Tennessee Girl....Hope your kids have a wonderful Halloween.  Praying for our niece, April.

Cassidy - come back if you can once in a while.   We are all posting less, it seems, except on Show night.  But want to keep in touch.

Stay safe sisters.  And have a good evening.

Same here.  We got some rain yesterday but not today.  It's just been cloudy all day.

April, I'm glad the hospital is making the day festive and fun for all of the kids there.  I'm keeping up the prayers for our niece.

View, your post brought up a memory I had of my late mother's peanut butter cookies.  I remember them being so delicious and after my mother passed away, I told my older sister I wished I had thought to get the recipe from her.  I thought it was a special recipe that had been passed down from a family member, but my sister told me it was actually a recipe she had gotten from the back of a label.

I hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween.  I'll be home handing out candy to all the little ghosts and goblins.

Hi guys, having a quiet moment here and wanted to share something with you guys......today one of the little guys on the floor (he just turned 5) said to the nurses...."I want to trick or treat backwards....people giveded me stuff now I want to give stuff too".....this sweet little guy went to every room on the floor to "trick or treat backwards"  and gave everyone a piece of candy.....I had never thought of the concept of trick or treating backwards as a way to say thank you but it was so sweet.......any way just wanted to share this sweet Halloween story with you guys.... Thought you'd enjoy it :-)
