Re: Dishin' With The Sisters: Lucky 21

Dancing with the Stars moves into its eighth week of competition on November 2, with seven celebrities and their pro dance partners continuing their quest for the Season 21 Mirrorball Trophy. According to ABC, one couple will earn immunity during the “America’s Choice” performances, and one couple will face elimination at the end of the night.

Re: Dishin' With The Sisters: Lucky 21

A few notes on Immunity, Stats and Elimination

So above is the calculations I used to generate my list of jeopardees in the “At A Glance” part of Week 7′s review.

However, after lowkey extensive online reading, this week’s eliminations is not going to be so easy with the whole immunity-cum-dance-off act thrown in.

Now,I might be wrong, but this is how I tTHINK the immunity game works (for this season at least):

[quote888]1. Couple with =inherithighest score from Week 8′s dance will get immunity from elimination tn Week 8 only. If there is a tie, it will go to whoever has the higher cumulative score. This couple will also have 3 points added to their W8 scores.

So even though couple X had the lowest combination of scores and votes from Week 7, if they do exceptionally well in Week 8 then they will not go home and couple with the second lowest combination from W7 will be eliminated instead.

 2. Whoever has the second highest score from their W8 dance will get first pick of partners (ties settled with cumulative). Then their chosen opponent picks the dance style.

Cha-cha and Jive have been confirmed as 2 of the dance-off styles. Given that Nick has done all three and Bindi hasn’t done the last, I’m inclined to say the last style is Foxtrot, but other possibilities are VWaltz and Samba.

 3. The judges and America will vote for who they think wins. Whoever wins will get 2 points added to their W8 score.

In case of a 2-2 vote, I suspect they will give it to whoever Julianne votes for, as with Len in previous seasons.

(If I ran the show I would discount America’s vote but alas I don’t.)

 4. Any additional points won will be counted into the total of votes and scores for Week 9′s elimination but the immunity only applies for W8.

 [/quote888]
So who might get immunity? My immediate reaction is “Bindi or Nick”. BUT they’re both already kinda “immune” and I believe TPTB would want to shake things up. Also, Nick has a contemporary this week and given his personality I don’t think he’ll fare so well with the emotive side of the style. I don’t think Bindi would suddenly not do well in any universe so to me she’s still most likely to get immunity, but if not her, I’d go for Carlos. He is doing a salsa and I think it’ll suit him well.

Disclaimer: Only Bindi, Nick and Carlos’ styles are known. However, based on the songs they seem to be dancing to, the other couples look up for having some whacko dance-song mismatch.

That doesn’t really change any of my predictions in the excel sheet, except that maybe Carlos now has a slightly higher chance of being safe. Let’s move on.

How will the dance-off play out? It’ll be too confusing to try to prediction who will end off facing off with who. I doubt the Penavegas will challenge each other and no one would challenge Bindi if she doesn’t get immunity.

Now, if I were each of the stars, this is who I would challenge (assuming no one cops out, choosing to challenge someone they can easily beat. Aka pick on someone your own size. Or level of dance.)

Alek: Andy or Alexa
Alexa: Andy or Alek
Andy: Alek
Bindi: Tamar or Alexa
Carlos: Tamar, Andy or Alek
Nick: Tamar or Carlos
Tamar: Alexa

I think generally Nick, Carlos, Tamar and Alexa are all fair game, with Nick a little ahead, and the outcome of the dance-off would depend on the style.Nick would avoid jive. I think Alek would avoid that too and hope for a ballroom style (if it’s the third and last style). If I were Andy I’d go for the slowest style possible. How will elimination be affected? As mentioned earlier Carlos’ might be slightly more safe. I think unless Alek gets a ballroom style in the dance-off, his safety will be decreased. Before this I thought Andy would be the most likely to go home but now I think it’ll be close between Alek and Andy. I feel the prospect of the dance-off itself also closes the gap between Tamar and Alexa.Okay, so that’s my thoughts. I don’t usually do posts like this outside of show nights but immunity week always gets me thinking.[/quote888]

Here’s the main part of Tamar referring to what she said in her packages (Confidence) on DWTS

Tumblr:
First concrete statement I’ve seen regarding what Maks and Meryl’s involvement together will be for this installment of SWAY. Surely if they’re taking the effort to craft a new number they’ll at least make sure it fits into the section. That was my biggest issue about the last time I saw the show, I didn’t mind seeing the DWTS numbers (especially their anniversary show tango/paso 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻) but they were so incongruous with the story/setting. Will be so cool to see something new! I wonder what style.
