Good night dear friends.  A mess in the kitchen is calling to me.

Gabriele's problems with her son's food aversions are known to me on a teeny scale compared to her difficulties.  But my daughter, when she was very young - maybe 5 ish - would never eat her peas.  And I thought, how can you not like peas?  It seems to me that is the one vegetable...perhaps along with corn, that all children like.  And the "rule" was sort of..."eat one bite"  and if you don't like it, you don't have to eat anymore this time.  But maybe next time you have them, you'll like them a little better.   But she just couldn't get even one bite down w/o gagging.  Poor thing.

It's very real.  I probably mentioned, my youngest needed to eat avocado (according to our biomedical doctor).  So I bought a $50 Lego packet, if he tried my homemade guacamole.  He puked the contents of his stomach across the room!  Same some 15 or so years ago.  I had bought a juicer and asked my eldest to try a sip of the celery/carrot juice I had made freshly.  I should have known better....  The speech therapist has a spreadsheets with rows being different foods an columns being for smelling, touching, licking, in the mouth, chewing, swallowing.
With some we don't even get to step 2 or 3 without gagging.

Wondered if you have ever watched this movie, gabriele?   It gets good reviews and is available "On Demand" through our cable service.

Curious if it is true to life in these days...for aboriginal folk.

I haven't seen it yet, view.  Must admit that my visits to the cinema are exclusively to see children's movies with my little guy.  So, if you asked me anything about Disney.......
The last movie I saw with David Gulpilil in, was Baz Luhrmann's "Australia".  But thanks for mentioning.  I've just reserved Charlie's Country through our local library.  We don't have Netflix or cable or satellite.
Around about 10 years ago, my little guy's dad and I went on a 6 weeks 4WD trip through remote parts of the country.  Mainly following the trail of the early explorers who first crossed the continent South - North, Birk and Wills.  I have to say, the remote communities we came through looked derelict, more so than in the movie trailer.  Where there was a shop, it was barred with windows boarded.  A bit like this to give you the picture,

I didn't feel comfortable to even stop and use the public toilet facilities (if you want to call it that...).  We stopped in a place to sit in a park for a while and were immediately surrounded by very aggressive acting young men who wanted money and alcohol.  We got in the car really quickly, locked the doors and drove off just in time.

I have a few friends who self-identify as aboriginees, including from the 'stolen generation'.  They are all very generous people with a big heart.  I think the government wants to address the inequalities.  Still 10 years less life expectancy for indigenous people.  Some of the efforts/ideas are clearly not respectful of the culture/people.  Our recently deposed prime minister for example suggested that aboriginees should not be allowed to have a life on welfare in their remote communities where there is no employment and should be made to move to areas where there is employment..

Re: Season 21 - Countdown to the Finale

Hey, All,

Quick check-in.  Back from my jaunt to SD yesterday a.m.  Stayed overnite; got home about 12:30 PM today.  Madly preparing for arrival of our English friends and trying to stay on course with holiday preparations.  WHEW!

Probably won't be online on Monday nite, but I do want to add my guesses for the evening.  I'll watch the DVR when I'm able to.

VIEW:I think there won't be an elimination; however, if there is, I'm picking Carlos to go (just want Alek to get to the final!).  Bindi for top of the leaderboard and Bindi, Derek, Mark for the trio winner.  Dance off: Nick and Bindi.

Hoping that everyone is doing ok.  Interesting about the food aversions, Gabriele.   Good luck with that....and stay cool.  I don't envy the heat you are having so early in the spring season.  We had mid-80s just days ago as well!

Gonna call it a day and jump in the shower.

XXXXXXX OOOOOOO

Sweet dreams!

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer. We fell in love, but our way. Maks

I'm a bit unsure about this dance off.  I had assumed that there is a 'duel' of Nick vs. Bindi and then another 'duel' of Carlos vs. Aleks.  If Nick and Bindi can win, it must work some other way.   View, can you please clarify?  Thanks.

Saying goodnight, dear sisters!
Trying to teach my youngest that spiders are useful, he doesn't have to fear them (well most of them....)   and we don't kill them just because we can.  I'm glad, he hasn't seen this....    *lol*

I have no words to describe how I would freak out.  Especially if it can scurry as fast as most spiders and zip down a  web thread on to you.

That's how I took it, gabriele.   This is from Pure DWTS....and you see they don't think it's quite fair. Maybe these 3 points to the winner is meant to spread out the ones remaining.

And of course the dances are mostly to fill up some air time created by Tamar's withdrawal.

Good morning CEK....glad I caught you.  I think we have to choose between Alek and Carlos...they are dancing off against each other.  And between Nick and Bindi...dancing against each other.

Pretty sure.

Oh well I will pick Carlos and Nick

Ah, it is. It's the first day of autumn! A time for hot chocolatety mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, as best of all, leaping into *leaves*!
