May I contribute by helping to decorate and set the table?!   That is one of my favorite things. In past years one or another little granddaughter would come a couple of days early and help me  decorate and set the table.  But even when I was young and lived away from home, I would use a tablecloth, linen napkins, flowers of some sort for a centerpiece...

I'm sure you are tired of hearing how the flood destroyed everything in my mother's house.  But the fun part is that I have been able to buy on line some of the more sentimental odds and ends having to do with family Holiday Dining.  Similar to the below:

And at Christmas, the "Honey, don't forget your mitten!" shakers that my kids and later grandkids loved.  This is actually a true photo from our table the first Christmas back in the house. 




I am very Thankful for these little things.   

Awww...this is sweet View   and yes setting the table is important   I love hearing about your salt shakers......it makes me wonder are there any other thanksgiving traditions you or the other sisters have????.....in my family we have a tablecloth that we put out every year with permanent markers and everyone that comes to dinner signs it and puts the year and what they are thankful for.....(because of how many years we have been doing it we now have several..LOL) ....my mom has saved them and it is awesome to look back over them from years past to see the things people have written and how some of those things have changed as we've grown.....some of them have gone from baby handprints before they were old enough to write to being children writing for themselves and now are teens or adults  it's also fun to look back at them (we do this every year before we put the one we're using out).....and be able to remember all the friends that have joined us over the years

I love vintage anything, but especially vintage Christmas decorations.  Those salt and pepper shakers are so charming, View!  Thanks for sharing pics of them with us...enjoyed looking at them.
 

My great Aunt use to collect salt/pepper shakers and dolls.  Her collection was amazing.  Some of the dolls and salt/shakers were "antics" or "famous era" themed.  She was born in the early 1900's, when she passed, I am not sure what happened to her collection.  I think maybe one of her daughters has a few of the dolls, but the salt shakers...who knows.

Yes, I lurk sometimes,  but I spend most of my time following some tumblr sites, and REAL life is keeping me busy at Chico's -- working more hours because one of our Asst. Mgrs. had surgery on her heel (broke two bones) and will be out until Feb. or April, our Mgr. quit the last day of Oct., another asst. Mgr.'s last day was November 14 and one of the associates quit (Nov.14). Getting depressing, but we all like our new mgr. very much!! We are closed on Thanksgiving Day but will open early the next day (6:00 am? - not sure). Our Chico's ladies will Not come in that early and the sales will be the same as all this week -- 40% off everything, including full price items and items already on clearance. Thanks for asking. Have to run downstairs now to watch the show.
