We lived in a campground and worked in that San Bernardino, Riverside, Loma Linda area for about 7 months...maybe 14 years ago or so. Even then, I was warned that certain areas were hi crime and pretty "rough". But this, with their commando gear, body cameras etc. must be something more sinister.
So sad and troubling.
A memory just occurred to me - during that time on the California job, I invited my mother in law to come stay with us for a few days since I was only working mornings on the job. It was winter weather up north in Minnesota where she lived. And during that visit - spending time with her every day - is when I first noticed occasionally somewhat agitated, unusual behavior (packing and repacking her suitcase for example) that, in retrospect, was most likely the beginning stages of her Alzheimer's.

April...........yes, this about 5 miles from my house as the crow flies...........scarey stuff. A good friend of mine has a daughter that works there. She has not returned his calls so he is just worried sick. He lives in northern California, so difficult when he is so far away.
Jet is 50+ miles away.
Oh Gunner I am so glad that you are ok...how scary this must have been to be so close to you..So glad your friend heard from his daughter and she is safe.
Thoughts and prayers to all touched by this senseless act....

Today, December, 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities as proclaimed by the UN in 1992.
Edit:
Is there a connection with the shooting being in a Disability Centre? Haven't found anything on that aspect of it.
I don't think a real reason for the shootings has been disclosed yet...Gabriele

Well, good morning sisters.
gabriele, I have many containers/jewelry boxes of my mother's 'costume' jewelry - as it was know in the 50's, 60's. Some very nice pieces. I wish I knew what to do with it all. Back then, women dressed. And had jewelry to match each outfit. My mother always looked so fashionable whether it was for church, or meetings...frankly just around the house she and my little friends' mothers dressed better than I do 95% of the time today.
And I'm afraid our lifestyles and tastes have changed.
I googled costume jewelry of the 1950's - and I literally have many many of these types of things. Some so beautifully made by well known makers of the time.
Anyone have any ideas what to do with such?
