Good morning everyone! And vmmom, HELLO! I see we are on at the same time.
Hi, View! How's the weather where you are? We are getting our first snow of the season. It wouldn't be a problem, but my youngest had Inventor Camp today, and they didn't cancel it. luckily, my hubby decided to take the day off, and he brought her in.

So glad that you have a hubby and (probably) a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
We have our beautiful blanket of snow....but not enough to be a problem for driving at all .. 4 inches total so far.
But where we are going in Wisconsin - and the Twin Cities - they just received 5 to 8 inches overnight, and are still getting a couple more inches this morning. Which is why we put off the trip until tomorrow.
I can't describe how different today's world of weather is - with the Weather Channel, computers, ample warning etc. than when I was a child. And even as a young mother - driving 90 miles home from visiting the in-laws over Christmas...in a snow storm. No cell phones etc.
People found themselves in very precarious situations, and even died back then of weather related causes.
When I was a child, we used to have a book of odd or interesting things about North Dakota and it's settlers from the early days of statehood (1889) and before. Many of the stories had to do with blizzards and getting lost between the house and the barn for example. Yet having to get out to feed the livestock, etc.
Children walking home from the country school house - a couple of miles - and a blizzard materializing. That type of thing.
So when I say: We open our garage door with a remote control. We start our car with a remote starter to warm it up. We blow snow off the sidewalks and driveway with a powerful machine.
And we consult the weather technology available before we head out on a road trip....
I am very thankful for the times we live in.

Well said. Yes, all-wheel drive, studded snow tires. Unfortunately, even many people living on our road aren't that responsible and get stuck, blocking access for everyone, So he left his car at the top of the road so he can be sure to get out to get her at pick-up time.
