'DWTS' Mark Ballas Reveals Pros 'Need' Len Goodman On Judge's Panel, Season 22 Spoilers
Photo : Official Facebook/Mark Ballas) Mark Ballas admitted that he is looking forward to the return of Len Goodman to "Dancing with the Stars" for season 22 of the ABC series.
"Dancing with the Stars" pro-Mark Ballas feels that the long-running ABC dance reality series "lacked something" without the presence of longtime judge Len Goodman in season 20.
Ballas for one is glad for Goodman's return in time for season 22.
"Len brings something to the show that I felt was a little bit absent this season - his grumpiness and his attention to tradition and you know, we need that," the dance pro told IBTimes.
He also revealed that during the season 20 finale, when Goodman's return was announced, the pros did not know of his impending return.
"We didn't, we didn't. I mean, I think it's good. Len brings something to the show that I felt was a little bit absent this season - his grumpiness and his attention to tradition and you know, we need that. He's such a staple of the show, he was definitely missed," said Ballas to IBTimes.
Ballas also laughed as he said he never thought he would say he missed the head judge and all his attention to detail.
"I don't think it will affect anything drastically. I think it will be great to have him back. It'll be nice to see him at the judges' table - I never thought I'd ever say that!" he joked.
Ballas also remarked that his status on season 22 will be kept a secret until the pros are revealed in 2016.
"[ABC will] probably announce [the pros] end of February or early March," he stated to IBTimes.
Goodman remarked during his taped announcement during the season finale of season 20 of the ABC dance competition series, "I've been watching the show from the UK, and I must say everyone has been doing a fantastic job."
"Now you finalists, I want you to give it you're all in these last dances. As for the pros, I've got a mention for you as well-listen up!-Len is coming back next season, and I don't want any of your nonsense. Val, stop pulling that face!" the head judge quipped in the segment.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 22 premiere date: Len Goodman to return
“Dancing With The Stars” Season 22 will premiere on March 21. It has not been revealed whether judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough would return for Season 22. However, longtime judge Len Goodman is all set to make a return to the dance reality show, come March 2016.
Goodman announced his decision to come back during a brief package that aired as part of “DWTS” grand finale held on Nov. 24. The senior judge said that he would return in Season 22 and would not take any nonsense from any contestant. In the pre-taped version of his message, Goodman added that he had been watching the show from the UK.
It was announced in August that Goodman would not return for “DWTS” Season 21, due to his schedule as a judge on UK’s “Strictly Come Dancing.” But executive producer Rob Wade had said that the viewers would get to see “Len in the ballroom again soon.”
It’s unclear for now whether the show will stick with a four-judge panel. Before Season 21, Goodman shared the dais with Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Julianne Hough. Also, pro dancer Mark Ballas will be back in Season 22 of “DWTS.”
Pro Derek Hough who won the Mirrorball Trophy along with his celebrity partner Bindi Irwin may not return for the new season. It was his sixth win and after the show when he was asked about his decision to return for Season 22, Derek said he was not sure, E Online reports. He added that his win with Bindi was “not a bad way to go out.”
Derek’s best friend forever, Ballas, was excited about Len Goodman returning to “DWTS. ”

Meanwhile, New York Giants and NFL running back Rashad Jennings said that he is in talks with the “DWTS” bosses to star in the new season, TMZ reports.
Season 22 of “Dancing with the Stars” will begin in March.
