Re: New Year - New Beginnings

KOS still here?

I absolutely love him, and he’s an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship.  Getting a chance to know him away from training for Dancing With the Stars, I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer.  Yup--toad in the hole (or sausage toad) is sausages cooked in a batter in the oven...it's like a sausage Yorkshire pudding almost. It's an evening meal...very cheap to make. I like it!

OH-- are you familiar with "spotted dick"?!!!!!

OMG...am I.....LOL.....my teenage son and nephew saw some of that in a store down here once....and yeah....you can imagine where they went to with it....LOL.....and I was with them....Oh my.....it was an interesting shopping trip with them laughing through the isles

Did the can have a photo on it?? It is hilarious whenever someone says it!!! It's like a plum pudding, I guess the can shape gives it the "dick" part....and the spots are from raisins or some such dried fruit that is visible on the outside. They serve it with something like a thin frosting or custard. Can't remember which. It's been a while since I've had it!!!!!!

yeah it had a pic....LOL.....but they were 17 and 19 at the time...LOL....all they needed was the name

OK and I don't think it's tea party food ....but if we're doing the England thing we have to have "Bangers and Mash"

When I was in grade school.... we had a teacher who made Stone Soup for us.

Remember that tale?

I remember that from my kids' school but not from my own! I probably wasn't paying attention that day!! LOL

Yes, I remember it.  What a great teacher!  Hey, have any of you read any of Jan Karon's books from The Mitford series?  To add to the sweets at our tea we should have some Esther's prize winning Orange Marmalade Cake.
I was unable to bring the photo and the recipe over, but here is the link: http://www.talkofthehouse.com/loving-mitford-orange-marmalade-cake.
