The mood had lightened, as they headed out the door  -  to find paps ready to shoot! 
Maks tried an about-face, but Meryl just smiled at the cameramen. 
Maks takes her hand, and explains, “Tomorrow the tabloids will link us as a couple.” 

(Meryl said)  “Well, in that case I suggest we give them two Oscar worthy acting performances!” 

But without warning, Val grabs Meryl and kisses her.   “There. (says Val)  Let them talk.”
