Jet is it unusual for there to be no fire or explosion when a plane crashes.
Not always. There would probably be evidence of fuel on the ground from the crash if they had a full tank or even less than that. If they made a couple runs and couldn’t get off, you have to wonder why if the engine was running smoothly.
So it could have been a fuel or engine problem.....you would think, if the engine didn't sound right, not to go up, but then again, like you said, if he didn't have enough flying hours, he might not have noticed that.

What does that mean Jet?? Would that have something to do with them going down? No….it just helps identify the airplane. I heard ot was a Bonanza…and this could be a Bonanza as some had conventional tails and some V tails.
LOL......OH..........See, I know NOTHING about planes.......LOL
That’s ok!! I’ve just been around them for 50 years!!! LOL

I am surprised that the plane doesn't look more damaged. That’s only because they didn’t get high enough to go in nose down. They pretty much pancaked, I would guess…and off into the brush is not a soft place to land. Again, where was the runway….unless that brush was at the end of the runway, which means they didn’t have enough speed to rotate.
Oh now that you mention that, the local news show here said that a family member of Nick the pilot called and told them that he was concerned about clearing the trees that were at the end of the runway. Hmmm
So they could have been over weight, but not likely. If it was really hot, density altitude could have been a problem. Must have been a short airfield.

We had a blimp base here for many years, but they must have moved it to FL!!! Their base here closed a long time ago.
I'm not sure if we have the only one or not....its not at the main airport but at the executive airport
